Viscariello Hospitality Group Announces April Fundraiser

for South Shore Community Action Council

PLYMOUTH, Mass. (March 30, 2023) - The Viscariello Hospitality Group (VHG) is launching a fundraiser during the month of April to support the South Shore Community Action Council’s (SSCAC) Food Resources Program.

VHG restaurants including Mamma Mia’s six locations in Plymouth Waterfront, Plymouth Pinehills, Marshfield, Carver, Hanover, and Kingston, as well as Carmela’s Restaurant in Kingston, and ThreeV Restaurant in Plymouth’s Cordage Park will all be participating in the fundraiser.

“Food resource programs are very near and dear to our hearts,” said Gina Viscariello Albanese, Co-Owner of VHG. “It’s a pleasure for us to have the opportunity to work with the South Shore Community Action Council who have been leading and organizing movements to fight poverty in our communities for generations.”

Founded in 1965, SSCAC fights poverty and food insecurity on the South Shore by working together with hundreds of community partners so all people, regardless of income, can live with dignity and realize their fullest potential. With its main office located in Plymouth, SSCAC assists over 28,000 low-income people of all ages each year with programs such as Home Energy Assistance and Conservation, Emergency Food Resources, Early Education and Childcare, Transportation for the Elderly and People with Disabilities, and more. SSCAC’s Emergency Food Resources program collects a half million pounds of fresh and non-perishable food to not only distribute directly to families but to also supply more than 60 pantries, soup kitchens, and others with food for those in need in their communities.

“With the extraordinarily high prices for food, housing, and other basics nowadays, our Emergency Food Resources program is a critical lifeline for low-income households, particularly seniors on a fixed income and families with children,” said Lisa Spencer, SSCAC’s CEO. “We know people in our communities are having to make difficult choices between paying for rent, prescriptions, utilities, and food. Knowing this, we’re deeply grateful to the Viscariello Hospitality Group and all the customers of Mamma Mia’s, Three V, and Carmela’s for joining us as we ‘Team Up Against Hunger’ to ensure none of our friends and neighbors has to go without and everyone has the food they need to thrive.”

Customers ordering takeout online or in-person throughout the month of April at any of VHG’s eight restaurants will have the opportunity to round-up their orders to donate to the South Shore Community Action Council’s (SSCAC) Food Resources Program. VHG will match our customers' donation totals dollar for dollar.
